In the first 2 steps we talked about for those new to affiliate marketing, you chose a niche and determined what products you plan to promote to your list. Now it is time to take the first action you need to take in preparing for the onslaught of traffic you are going to get.

Being prepared is half the battle.

By being prepared before we start incurring monthly fees as an internet marketer, for the tools we will need we can reduce the monthly cost of your internet business to little or nothing the first month we start up. Sounds like a good idea doesn’t it?

How many does it take?

So, what you have to prepare now is a series of emails to send to your list. I am not asking you to write 25 or 30 emails to start with. What you need is 4 to 6 emails ready to drop into your autoresponder when you set it up. You can actually write several each week to add to it as you go.

There is also another method we can use for email that I will get into latter in this basic building blocks series.

What do I write about?

In this email series you do not want to just promote without giving content. You also do not want to give away the kitchen sink with your email either. You have to have a middle ground that you can travel on.

You want to give good, valuable content, while at the same time arousing your list’s desire, curiosity, or passion over something. You then want to give them a way to satisfy that discord, desire or passion you ignited by clicking on your link.

The more often you can get your list to click on your link the more value you are creating for your customers. You can have them going to your pre-sales pages (we will discuss them in a few days), to listen to an audio or to watch a video that gives more information on what will scratch their itch.

It all sound a little complicated if you aren’t a writer doesn’t it?

No worries. It is not that hard to do. Think of your customer sitting right there beside you as you are writing. Now just write what you would say to them knowing that you want what is best for their piece of mind and their business. If that is a problem I have an answer for that that we will get to in a moment.

One more task before we start setting up your tools.

As an affiliate marketer you have to have something you can give to your subscribers for an ethical bribe so they, in turn, will give you their name and email address. What it is isn’t that important. It can be an audio, a video, an ebook or a simple report.

What is important is that it fits into the affiliate marketing niche you are promoting, has value to your list and helps you to promote the affiliate products you are selling. If you don’t have anything like this then you have several alternatives.

  1. You can produce it yourself

  2. You can pay someone to produce it for you.

  3. You can buy Private Label Rights (PLR) products to use

  4. You can become a member of a system that is setup and successful at this already.

The easiest is 4, PLR rights in 3 are less expensive than having someone produce it specifically for you in 2. The hardest and most time consuming is 1. My recommendation is 4. I like it to start out with because it has all the components you need except for the autoresponder.

Doesn’t it sound a lot easier to let some already successful in internet marketing like Derrick Van Dyke or another like him, that is already making thousands a month in affiliate commissions, help you get started. I think it is.

Now you are ready to get your tools setup for the traffic you are going to get. We will start on the tools in the next post.
