About My Initial Online Marketing Experiences
December 26th, 2007 ·
Hi, my name is Sim Garner and I know you are asking the question "Why should I listen to you". Well the only reason I can think of is that I have been in the place you are if you are just thinking about starting an online affiliate marketing business or if you have made a little money as an Affiliate Marketer.
I started learning about affiliate marketing online in June of 2007. I started as most people new to online marketing do. I bought a product that touted making thousands per month. I actually made nothing. I couldn't even get the product uploaded to a server because I didn't know how to.
So next I bought a training program. The program was fine except for the fact that it didn't give me the basics I needed to set up a squeeze page, and email sequence or anything that a person new to online marketing needs.
What next, I became part of a program that furnished a website already to go. I joined all the programs it said to join and followed, to a tee, the 30 day marketing program it outlined. By following the marketing suggestions it said to follow I spent about $1,000 the first month and about $450 a month there after. I stopped throwing my money away on it after about 3 months.
This put me in to the middle of September. I decided it was time for me to decide the niche I would market to and how I would do that marketing. I started looking for programs that gave the very basics. I wanted to get a good foundation set to build off of.
It really isn't easy to find programs and people to give the basics instead of just throwing products at you, for you to purchase. Even when I found them I also found out that they too promoted numerous products to go with the basics that I had absolutely no use for, with me just starting out. The difference is that they stated in their basic program to complete the program you are doing, implement it and let it start working for you before you buy and start another program.
Now this made complete sense to me. I of course didn't follow that direction, why I am not sure. I got started on one program and jumped to another because I thought it might help me to make money faster so I could replace some of what I had already spent.
I did eventually learn. It cost time and money, but even mules are trainable.
I finally settled in and started implementing the basics. I began using the zero cost techniques I had been trained on for getting traffic and putting into place optin boxes and squeeze pages to build my list. I found out that when you first start out, unless you are wealthy and can afford to hire everything done for you, the best thing you can do is start out small and work your way into a profitable online business.
That is why I picked the online marketing niche to promote. I want people to know just what they need to get started and to help them to do it without spending thousands on unnecessary products and materials.
I am now, during the Christmas season of 2007, putting together my first joint venture (JV) with an experienced internet marketer. We are testing a controversial method of list building that I believe will help beginner Internet Marketing Affiliates build the initial list they need to be able to make JV offers their self and do some ad swaps.
I am excited. I hope this works out as planned but if the program doesn't work as intended, then I just won't put it on the market.
Keep up with my blog and you will get lots of free information on the basics of building an internet marketing business. I will also be doing reviews of the training I am taking and the products I feel are valuable to you.
I have put up a nice little traffic manuel that you can download free. I also have a great set of 3 audios and Manuels you can to get started.
To your success,
Sim Garner
